We’ve booked Sunsail Tortola Cats and Monohulls several times over the past 10 years with little issue. The ops base in Roadtown is very well staffed and managed. Our most recent trip, a 42′ Sunsail Cat was good as well. Boat was said to have a watermaker but did not and the cockpit fridge was not working although neither was a deal breaker. Both items were known to Sunsail prior to our accepting the boat. Briefing and debriefing were normal (I am an experienced skipper). The boat was a B+ in condition (in addition to above, the stb engine had a valve cover noise that needed repair, the transom ladder to the water needed repair and the Sunbrella on the jib needed restitching) .
I recommend Sunsail Tortola -
Boat experience was amazing as well as the islands we stopped at. Captain was great to sail with, felt safe the whole time.

Awesome vacation in Belize on a beautiful 42’ catamaran. This is our second trip to Belize. Sun sail made everything easy. Diego, Matteo and Renee were so knowledgeable and made sure that we got the most out of our trip.
No problem getting all of our supplies at the local grocery store. We ate many meals on the boat but we found really good restaurants on different islands. Buy your favorite alcohol in Placencia before you leave – it’s hard to come by and expensive on the islands. Stock up on ice whenever you can too.
Dustin and Kim served a fabulous meal at the Hideaway Caye. Ray Caye and South Water Caye also are well worth the visit for overnight mooring with first class dining and easy access to water activities. Definitely book the Monkey River Tour with Rolf. Snorkeling was better than most places we have been to in the Caribbean.
Belize is a beautiful country but we found it’s the Belizean people that make us want to return again and again. They are so friendly and care about “tourists”. BZE airport has made all of our transfers easy. -
We bareboat chartered a 42 foot catamaran from Sunsail, Placencia in December 2022 for a week.
It was a fabulous experience!
The boat was in excellent condition, and every motor from the two main engines, to the dinghy, and generator all started on the first try every time.
The dinghy was large enough to accommodate six adults without any problems.Navigating in the coral waters of Belize can be tricky, but the color chart plotter already had all the anchorages listed as the boat had been everywhere before.
There was a guidebook aboard with sketch charts and sailing directions to get into every possible Anchorage. The boat was clean inside, and the ships bottom was free of any barnacles or marine growth.
She performed well, we sailed in winds from 10 to 22 mph and never needed to reef the sails. The main has 2 reef points and the jib can roller reef for high winds. Seas were calm as you have to stay inside the barrier reef and are forbidden to go out into the open ocean. There was an electric windlass for raising and lowering the anchor, and an electric winch for raising the main and sheeting it in.
Both of these worked perfectly.
Both the job and mainsail are self tacking so sailing the boat up wind is effortless. Our only word of warning is to make sure you get a boat with a 110 Volt water maker.
Our boat had a 12 V water maker and not only was its output very low at only 10 gallons per hour, but we had a lot of problems with it.The staff was very nice and the pre-departure briefing was very thorough.
It seems like Sunsail and the Moorings are now one company.
I highly recommend them for a bareboat charter in Belize without any reservations -
A cracking holiday that I won’t readily forget!
From start to finish there is so much to do and see in the Abacos, from the super friendly local Abaconians to the amazing amount of Marine life at your finger tips.
Never did I think that Sea Turtles would be so common and everywhere you look they are there 😀
Particular highlights:
The Sunsail base team are hard working, professionals who are eager to go the extra mile. Of particular mention thank you Seanna / Travis for arranging the organisation of our vessel. Thank you to Tee / Charlie / Juan for your amazing assistance with yacht preparation and quick technical responses to save our bacon. And finally a big thank you to Anthony our Skipper, he had a lot of local insights to give and was a huge help with the fishing!
Fishing – An absolute must in the Abacos, if you are renting a sail boat there rent a rod and have a laugh! Honestly never thought I would enjoy fishing but I was converted and am now eager to fish at all opportunities. There are many different fish species and it gets exciting battling them in.
Final bit I would say is going to Crab Cay and making sure you have a Stand Up Paddleboard to go in and around the mangroves was a magical experience and a great way to wake up in the morning.
Thanks again to Sunsail for helping us experience a memory I am not likely to ever forget!
PS, the pigs on the beaches love having their bums scratched which was hilarious 😀

We had the Sunsail 454 catamaran for a week in October. I must say the weather was perfect as it was not too hot with only two rain showers for one or two hours. Crab Key is absolutely perfect for a SUP ride. Saw some Eagle rays, sea turtles and baby sharks. Final night we went to Hope Town in and Marina. They had the best tuna steak ever.
I highly recommend this charter base. If you can, get one or two SUP´s and two fishing rods. one for bottom fishing and another one for trawling. It is very likely you will catch a very nice fish.
The base personal and the people of Abacos in general, are such nice and sincere people. Especially considering what they went through with Hurricane Dorian.
5 star rating, and very well deserved!
Thank you for having us,

Mike Vouradakis has a great team in Marina Zea. Sunsail boat was in great shape and when we had a minor snag it was fixed immediately by their engineering team led by Elias Kouvaris.
A great week sailing! -
Thank you so much for the Beautiful boat, and Special thanks to our Captain Dan Santos who made our week absolutely unforgettable.
His immense knowledge about the ocean made it possible for us to discover so much and see so many things; Dolphins, Sharks, rays, Beautiful Chorals and much more.
He also made us feel absolutely safe and we had so much fun sailing under his supervision.
Thank’s for everything, we will be back!!! -
We sailed September 2021 in Belize with Sunsail / Moorings in Belize to celebrate our 25th Wedding Anniversary. We were blessed to have Captain Henry as our guide and friend. He is extremely knowledgeable of the islands, wildlife, and sailing in the entire vast beautiful seas in Belize. We had another wonderfully fun couple join us that enhanced our experience aboard the 42 ft catamaran. The boat and experience were Epic! Can’t wait to book another amazing experience with Moorings / Sunsail! Thanks to all the employees in Belize that helped make our experience unforgettable!!

Having researched various yacht charter companies I decided to go with Sunsail. Their base at Zea in Athens is fine and facilities and restaurants are good. I chartered a new Jeanneau 41 which was well presented and clean. It had aircon and electric heads as standard which was a pleasant surprise. Staff were all pleasant and efficient. We had planned on doing the Saronic and Argonic and eventually got as far as Monneviasta in the Peloponnese which is absolutely beautiful. We had an issue with the holding tank but a call into Sunsail saw us getting this fixed in Poros. Apart from that and an empty spare gas tank, all worked perfectly.
Although not the cheapest, Sunsail will provide support should you need it. Given I was sailing with mostly novices I felt the support would offer peace of mind and allow me to enjoy my all too brief 2 week charter.
I would certainly consider Sunsail again for my next sailing holiday, perhaps this time in a Cat.😀
Hope this is helpful -
Having just arrived back from being in the company of Sunsail for a week I felt it truly worth mentioning what a fantastic experience it was from start to finish. Everyone there makes your stay special answering even the most trivial question which I know personally can be very tiresome. The staff never appear to stop always available with ideas of where to eat or drink fantastic cocktails. Directions each day very helpful clear and professional so I knew where to go. A big thank yo to all the staff. looking forward to a future holiday here.

We sailed La Guêpe (the wasp) a 36′ Jeanneau on a 7 boat flotilla. We had good winds, not always on the nose! The lead crew Chris, Alex and Katy were marvellous, really good fun and helpful. We met some lovely people and had a really good sail with good locations to have a good sociable get-together. The flotilla (not too serious) points competition was a good idea but it’s amazing how competitive people can get. We came a creditable 3rd. I think it was our cocktail that helped.
